A Journey of Faith Inside Out

As the tiny white butterfly is nourished from the nectar of the sunflower sustained in sunlight, so do we draw sustenance from God, the sovereign source of all light, life, and energy.

ROAD TO EMMAUS

We are an Easter people. There is a reminder of this at a certain church where the huge Cross hanging over the altar shows the Crucufied Christ on one side and the Risen Christ on the other.

The Crucifix is the symbol of Christian faith, focused on Jesus our Redeemer. We are part of his dying, but so are we part of his rising. Yet in times of anxiety or disappointment, we may wonder where God has gone, much like the disciples walking to Emmaus, disheartened and confused over Christ's disappearance, even as He walked right next to them.

We pray for hearts constantly attuned to Him, so we may feel "hearts burning" in His constant presence. Our road to Emmaus , though not always easy, leads to Him. So He makes sure He accompanies us, because we are His.

Because we are an Easter people.

A RELEVANT CHURCH

DECEMBER'S PICKS

For DISCOVER, In "Where To From Here”, the first chapter of a book being written by Aurelio O. Angeles, he reveals how the word "static" was a stranger to his life history - the challenging journey from his itinerant childhood to the present, replete with difficult crossroads leading to the critical one towards entrepreneurship. Continuous hardships paved the way accompanied by anxiety, matched by dogged determination to reach the next stage, always with a search for meaning and purpose and a constant call to the Holy Spirit for guidance, depending on God for courage, virtue and wisdom to keep moving forward with unfailing faith in Him, no matter that the future remains unseen.

For GIFTS & GRACES, Jonathan Crisol in his article, 'Remembering Bobby Crisol, My Father of Love and Presence Unsurpassed' recalls that at 11 years, he needed to don, on emergency, his Dad's sneakers to play ball in school. This, he vividly remembers, was met without any hesitation by his Dad, who was to family, the rock on whom all leaned.

Now a father himself and his Dad just gone, Jonathan writes about 'his filling in the shoes' of his Dad who left a life filled with values to emulate.

In the PANANAGUTAN entry, Dong Magsajo in 'Dear Basti', pens a letter to his 13 year old son who is battling grief, unable to give away his happy memories of the family's staunch rock, 'Lolo (grandfather)', whom God has called to himself.

Dong writes of the need for Basti to 'release' Lolo for God's full loving.

In "Faith and Miracles: Emerging Triumphant From a Difficult Pregnancy,” Anna Gicelle Himala Medina describes the difficult odyssey with her husband with initial infertility, threatened premature delivery, to having the baby at 34 weeks weighing 4lbs, prayers and donations helping them with tremendous hospital bills. Son Mario is now almost 4 yrs old, developing normally, all through God's grace and the Blessed Mother's intercession.

In "Consecration to the Blessed Mother,” Marimil Enage-Villareal describes the car accident in Turkey that left her with multiple injuries and excruciating pain and the blessed road to recovery in the care of loved ones and caregivers but most of all, in the arms of Mother Mary herself.

In the September issue of White Butterfly, Conchita Bigornia writes Part 1 of "The Rainbow After the Rain", describing her husband, Malee's fatal illness. In Part 2 this month, Conchita writes of Malee’s legacy who was devoted to God and the Blessed Mother. Malee knew the singular joy of being so well-loved but he himself was a source of love, generosity, kindness and laughter everywhere he turned - so his God and Mother Mary - centered legacy lives in many countless others.

SEPTEMBER'S PICKS

In ’Message from a Grateful Son’, Cecilia Tapales-Santiago recalls God's constant guidance of her marriage and family through 'bruised' years of togetherness.

Son, Rico on her 80th birthday celebration, reads the long enumeration of gratitude prayers he and his siblings list to honor God's fidelity in their Mom's life. Unknowingly, Cecilia had modelled strength in her simplicity and humility.

The article is White Butterfly's DISCOVERY entry this September.

For White Butterfly's September, GIFTS & GRACES, we share here Conchita Gloria-Bigornia's 'The Rainbow After the Rain' in two parts. The second half will be posted on October.

Here, the author cites deep joy in her realization of Jesus and the Blessed Mother's faithfulness to Malee, her husband, whose life as recalled in the article was of a fond devotee throughout ‘til death.

Malee lived as in our plea to Mary, 'Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death.'

'Embracing Personal Clarity Moment to Moment' is White Butterfly's PANANAGUTAN entry this September.

Here, Pia Nazareno-Acevedo recalls how a near-death experience at 19, changes her life perspective establishing personal inner clarity as essential to a meaningful life. This awakening leads to the set-up of her company, OneCore.

AUGUST'S PICKS

For White Butterfly's DISCOVER this month, 'The Camino Called and We Said 'Yes,' is a recollection of Susan Yaptinchay Narciso's pilgrimage experience with her husband, Tony. The Spirit journeyed with them, communicating vibrantly then and to this day.

Our entry for GIFTS & GRACES is Evelyn Claudio Salvador's article, 'Times and Seasons of Life.' She outpours her gratitude for God guiding their marriage to a golden summit. She remains faithfully thankful beyond for the two months the Lord gave her and her family to spend time with her husband, who had miraculously awakened from a coma after a bad fall and eventually was taken home by the Lord.

For PANANAGUTAN, it is 'What You Did To the Least...' by Augustus Padilla Tiambeng. He recalls a chance encounter that defined a lifelong commitment to pursue solutions to the 'small' man's plight—his response to Matthew 25, which left an impact to his childhood questions.

White Butterfly

"When God's power is manifested in the world, in his creation or in his people, God is glorified. When we pray that our lives may glorify him, we are asking that the self may be put down."
(Elisabeth Eliot)

God loves us and will use many ways and instruments to keep us in His company. He will draw us to Him through people, events, and circumstances. Sometimes He will send us unexpected messengers.

There it was one day, the surprise of an insignificant, tiny white butterfly, which seemed to carry an invitation for me to God's banquet. My answer, through His grace, led to a simple blog, which now evolved into this website.

White butterfly is a gathering place where God invites all to HONOR and GLORIFY Him, each in one’s unique way.
