AMANDA T. LISING

Touch down on the Holy Land. I went to Israel. The coveted pilgrimage site of those who believe in Jesus Christ. A bucket list item for world travelers. And in May 2019, I finally did it and rode… a camel.

My Mother

Kidding aside, I understand that I could not be more blessed. And to put the icing on this very elaborate cake, I got to go there with my mother. She had taught me about God at an early age. This is why it was doubly special to us. This was our moment to see, hear, feel, and experience our Lord together.

The Vlog

I needed to vlog the experiences and events that happened to me as part of a school project. I know in my heart that God planned it all. Everything I expected happened right away. The camel. The baptism in the Jordan River. The exotic food. Those were the basics of the tour. As these events unfolded, the following days were suddenly free of expectations.

I tell you – this is one of the best ways to experience a trip. One can prepare for everything and yet expect nothing.

Quality Time

This journey would not be complete if I did not mention the book “The 5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. Each person supposedly has a way to recognize and give love to their significant others. The five ways are Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch, Gifts, Acts of Service, and Quality Time.

I discover that my personality type relishes Quality Time. It is such a miraculous revelation because I no longer need to compare myself to other Christians. Now, I realized that I love Him every time I actively seek and spend time with God. This is what happened in the streets of Jerusalem.

  1. Amanda , please continue. I would like to read more on what you felt and thought about the trip. You write so well that we see Your trip to Israel in another light.

  2. Thank you Amanda for continuing to inspire us with your journey to the Holy Land. I went there in 2006 and my own experience in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is one that has accompanied me and will continue to influence me in my daily life. Please continue to write. You have been gifted with that talent. May you continue to glorify God through it.

  3. Amanda, your deep relationship with God could be felt in your writing. Your Love for God is so real, so special and so sincere..I love it. Cheers!

  4. Of all the trips I’ve been so far, The Pilgrimage to Holy Land from December 9-19, 1997 was the best and unforgettable. I joined our charismatic group Bukas Loob sa Diyos led by a priest and a nun as spiritual leaders. Tita Fanny Catapang was my roommate. I too was touched by the Holy Sepulchre, couldn’t hold back my tears of joy and the peace I felt being so close To Him. Glad to be Catholic!
