TERESA PANADO
I am in my 50’s and a single mother with a 25-year-old son. Several months before my mother passed away in 2014, I was diagnosed with hypothyroid. I underwent an operation that same year with the hope that I would be medically cleared. Unfortunately, it deteriorated instead. After a biopsy, the doctor informed me that I had throat cancer, stage two.
Palawan
I was living with my mother and son in Palawan at that time. We supported ourselves by selling cooked food and receiving some allowance from my siblings in Manila. Our income was barely enough to sustain us and send my son to school at the same time. So chemotherapy for my cancer was out of the question.
Eventually, I developed autoimmune hemolytic anemia, which required me to undergo a blood transfusion every three months. Then three years later, in 2017, my doctor discovered my kidney problem, which needed dialysis. Since I had no means of getting the money to pay for the dialysis, I again refused it.
Meanwhile, I tried to take some herbs to help me. I remembered how my body felt during one of my worst states. It had become swollen, and I ached all over whenever I moved or even as simple as going to bed. I was unable to walk. I thought this was the end for me, that I would succumb to my diseases and finally die. I prayed hard to the Lord and let go of everything.
God calling
During my illness, my brother Sam, a family driver in Manila, would call me up regularly to check on me. He always prayed for and with me and persistently encouraged me to have a strong faith and trust in God. It took me quite a while before I realized that God was and is the answer. I learned to lift everything to him. I continuously prayed for his healing and surrendered to him.
Over a year ago, I moved in with Sam and his family so he could watch over me. I still go for blood transfusion every three months for my anemia, but I no longer worry about my cancer and kidney problem. God heard my prayers. I got my miracle. Praise God. I BELIEVE I AM HEALED!
Today is August 22, 2020. I am now able to walk and move around without much difficulty. In fact, I help Sam do household chores such as cooking and laundry.
Prayers do wonders. In whatever problems or challenges, do not forget to pray and reach out to God. He will not forsake us. He will help us carry our burdens and overcome these. JUST LIKE WHAT HE DID FOR ME.
God is great all the time. Amen!
Yes. I agree Teresa. God is the answer at all times! Boy N
Teresa, you may not be in a hospital caring for Covid patients but you are without a doubt an inspiring frontliner – leading us to a fearless trust in God not only during the pandemic but in all the facets of our life with Him, ALWAYS.
Salamat! Stay strong and beautifully resilient. God keep you always.
Dear Ms. Panado, I am a stroke survivor of 17 years. I was then 49. I am now 66. As I look back today, the interlude years were, what I would consider, the PEAK years of my life. God’s grace simply overflowed! Back then, my children were all stiill in school. Today, they are all married, with families of their own. I am ’Lolo’ to 7, soon–to–be 8, ’apo’(s). My heart can only be filled with GRATITUDE! He is not done with me yet! Neither is He with you! HOPE!
You are a true example and testimony of God’s divine Mercy! May the Lord Continue to bless you!
