In Ikenobo, the style of shoka shofutai celebrates the essence – the nature of each plant material.
It is a celebration of nature – each element, flower, leaf, branch —
chosen and arranged to depict its role in the natural world and the role it plays, how it faces the light source, how it complements and relates to the flowers and branches around.
This, we must do too – as human beings. Knowing our essences and what God intended each of us to be. And we, in turn, must respect and complement all of God’s creation.
