And the Mute Shall Teach Us

CELERY

I have often stopped in awe and appreciation of God’s creation, from magnificent lakes and mountains to dazzling sunsets and entrancing flowers.

However, towards the end of 2021, I came upon and was particularly captivated by the video of these birds, but which seemed to be there not for the usual admiring. Bursting with life in their unique colors, shapes, sizes, and abilities, I felt them beckoning me instead to partake with them in this earthly bounty of ours, in the fullness of life and in what is yet to come in the year just begun.

The birds, with the rest of God’s silent “teachers” in creation (as Job refers to them so wonderfully), signify to me the completely trusting and joyful freedom of becoming who God created and meant us to be.

Sometimes it takes the Lord passing by to remember that.

                                                      JOB 12: 7-10

Ask the animals, and they will teach
you; the birds of the air, and they will
tell you; ask the plants of the earth,
and they will teach you; and the fish
of the sea will declare to you. Who
among all these does not know that
the hand of the Lord has done this? In
his hand is the life of every living
thing and the breath of every human
being.

  1. God is so good. He teaches not only from His word in the Bible. And come to think of it, today is the Sunday of The Word of God. He left us many teachers in his creations – mountains, lakes, forests, birds. Thanks, Celia, for the beautiful sharing.
